Cole and Fritz help Pride sweep Heart Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week Awards

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - In the first season of lacrosse inside of the Heart of America Athletic Conference, Clarke University men's lacrosse earned their first ever Heart Player of the Week honors as attacker Conner Cole was name this week's Offensive Player of the Week and goalie Jack Fritz earned the Defensive Player of the Week nod.

Cole was vital to the Pride's offensive attack in their two wins over Saint Mary and Concordia Chicago last week as he scored 10 goals on his 19 shots on goal over the two games. The senior from Hudson, Wis. also added three total assists over the pair of games to be on the score sheet for 14 of the 19 goals scored by the Pride.

So far this season, Cole has scored 14 goals over his four games played this season as he set the Clarke record for goals in a season with his 30-goal performance last season while adding 19 assists over their nine-game season.

Fritz has been strong in goal during his first season with the Pride as he earns Defensive Player of the Week following a pair of games that saw him record more saves than CU's opponents scored goals earning his first and second career wins in the 9-6 win over Saint Mary and the 10-8 win over Concordia Chicago. His save percentage was over 53 percent in each game, including a career-high 63.6 percent against Concordia Chicago with a 14 saves on the 22 shots on goal as he also had seven saves last Tuesday.

Currently, Fritz's 98 saves ranks third in the Heart as he also has posted a 48.4 save percentage while playing every minute in goal for the Pride during his freshman campaign.

Clarke men's lacrosse will be back on the field when they host Monmouth College this Wednesday night for a 7:00 p.m. CT scheduled faceoff at Burrows Field.
