Cole's six goals lead Pride in comeback victory over Concordia 10-8

DUBUQUE, Iowa – Led by Conner Cole and his six goals, the Clarke University men's lacrosse team came away with a 10-8 come from behind victory Sunday afternoon at Burrows Field.

The Cougars pounced on the Pride's defense netting four quick goals less than six minutes into the contest including two by senior attacker Jarred Tabor. Cole would get Clarke on the board off assist from Nick Lindsay and just over a minute later, Alec Kolander scored to cut the lead in half.

Both teams would trade goals over the next quarter, including a goal with  just 32 ticks left in the second quarter by junior Matt Archer and the Pride would trail at the half 6-4.

Cole would go to work, scoring the next three goals including the go-ahead goal with 10:42 to play in regulation. 13 seconds later, Justin Headley tied the score back up for the cougars at 7 apiece.

With 3:10 left, Kolander would break the tie, scoring the next two goals for his sixth and seventh on the season. The Cougars would continue to battle and cut the Pride lead down to one after Carter Jedras would score his first of the year with 46 seconds to play. Seven seconds later, Cole would finish the game just as he started it and scored his sixth of the game to put the Cougars away 10-8.

The Cougars had five different goal scorers as Tabor and Triston Ploch each scored twice. Jedras, Justin Headley, Sean Dooley, and Zach Cicero each had one.

Peter Borkowski was in net for Concordia and made six saves, while seeing 16 shots.

Josef Fors was dominant in faceoffs for the Cougars winning 17 of 20 and Headley won both of his tries.

Pride goalkeeper, Jack Fritz made 14 saves while seeing 22 shot attempts.

Pride men's lacrosse will stay home and play Monmouth College on Wednesday, March 22nd starting at 7 pm CST.
