Missouri Baptist tops Pride 11-2

DUBUQUE, Iowa – Missouri Baptist University men's lacrosse had six different goal scorers on their way to defeating the Pride 11-2 on Monday afternoon at Burrows Field.

Dylan Forbeck scored twice in the first quarter for the Spartans including the first goal with 12:05 remaining on the clock. Less than a minute later, senior Alec Kolander answered for the Pride off the Justyse White pass. Connor Hickman gave the Spartans back the lead and wouldn't give it back the rest of the game. Forbeck's second goal would come with just a few ticks left in the first quarter.

After two assists in yesterday's contest and getting a helper on the first goal, White got in on the scoring to start the second quarter to pull CU back within a goal trailing 3-2. Caleb Tant would once again make it a two-score game for MBU. After a slashing penalty was called on the Pride, Brock Peis of the Spartans was able to make use of the man advantage and found the back of the net.

Coming out of the locker room trailing 6-2, the Pride would surrender five more goals over the next 30 minutes of gameplay without getting a tally of their own.

Scoring twice for the Spartans was Forbeck, Tant, Peis, Hickman, and Ryan Hicks. Blake Lauria scored once on his only shot attempted. In net for MBU was junior Ashton Scott, as he made seven saves on nine shots.

Making 10 saves on 21 shots was CU goaltender Jack Fritz, as the Spartans finished with a 36-19 shot advantage. Leading the Pride in shot attempts was White, who as mentioned earlier scored and assisted on the only two goals.

The Pride men's lacrosse team will travel to Mount Vernon, Ohio for their next opponent on March 3rd, where they'll faceoff against Mount Vernon Nazarene University starting at 6 pm CST.
