Pride fall in season finale to St. Ambrose

DUBUQUE, Iowa - Closing out the season against the No. 1 team in the NAIA rankings, the Clarke University men's lacrosse team fell by a final of 24-7 against No. 1 St. Ambrose University on Tuesday night.

The Fighting Bees were able to use a strong 12-0 third quarter to run away as the halftime margin was at a 7-4 lead for SAU after 30 minutes but the CU struggle in the third quarter allowed the game to get away from the Pride at 19-4 after three periods.

For the Pride on the offensive end, Conner Cole racked up four more goals to finish his season at an even 30 while adding an assist for his season point total to finish at 49 to lead the team in goals, assists, and points. 

The rest of Clarke on the scoresheet included two goals and an assist from Kurt Springli, a goal from Tucker La Belle, two assists from Alec Kolander, and an assist from Drew Dorenbush. Goalie Kendrik Scherer was able to make 23 saves on the night as well while facing a total of 74 shots, 47 being on goal.

Clarke men's lacrosse will finish the year at 3-7 on the season as they won two of their last four games on the season but will see some roster turnover heading into the 2022-23 school year.
