Slow start hinders Pride in 15-8 loss to Midland

FREMONT, Neb. - Looking to push their winning streak to three games, the Clarke University Pride fell short on Friday night in a 15-8 loss to Midland University.

A 6-1 first period from the Warriors set the tone and allowed Midland to pull away over the rest of the game despite a 4-2 fourth quarter from the Pride. CU even cut the 6-1 lead to 6-3 early in the second quarter but MU would score the next four unanswered to finish the half up 10-3 before extending that to 13-4 heading into the fourth quarter.

Midland had five players finish with a multi-goal game led by Carson Meier's four goals as he was supported by three goals from Joshua Pereira and three different two-goal games from Marty Gospodarski, Mitchell Marinaro, and Nick Crociata.

Facing 29 shots on goal, Clarke's Kendrik Scherer made 14 saves for a .483 save percentage in the game as the Pride's leading goal scorer in the game was Alec Kolander as he finished with three goals with Kurt Springli the only other CU player with more than one goal in the game as he had a pair.

Clarke men's lacrosse will finish out the 2022 regular season with a Tuesday night game at Burrows Field against NAIA No. 1 ranked St. Ambrose University for a 7:00 p.m. CT scheduled start.
