Pride men's golf opens busy week at St. Francis Invite

PLAINFIELD, Ill. - Beginning a week where the Clarke University men's golf team will play five rounds of golf in seven days, both five-man teams for the Pride finished within nine team strokes of each other at the St. Francis Invite on Tuesday.

CU's top five was led by a T3rd finish from Carter Ruegsegger as he shot a 72 (+1) to finish three strokes behind the individual winner Max Golding from North Park University. Ruegsegger has now finished in the top-five in both competitions the Pride have played in to start the 2022-23 season.

Logan Winn's 75 (+4), Jesse Frye's 79 (+8), and Alex McLeland's 82 (+11) rounded out the team scoring for Clarke's top team as Jared Martinson carded an 85 (+14) that stays off of the team score. 

Clarke's second unit was led by Anthony Eddy's 75 (+4) to tye for 25th along with Winn as Greg Witte matched Frye's 79 (+8) with Alijah Dopson's 81 (+10) and Francis Resurreccion's 82 (+11) finishing off the second team's score as Landon Joneson scored an 84 (+13).

The three individuals competing for Clarke were Vincent Forseth, Mitchel Coffey, and Alex Beard as they shot 87, 91, and 97 respectively.

Pride men's golf will return to Eagle Ridge for their second tournament hosting duties of the fall as they will host the two-day Clarke Fall Classic on Friday and Saturday with day one taking place at the North Course and day two at the South Course.
