Pride finish in fourth place at Heart Championships

DES MOINES, Iowa - Entering Sunday's elimination bracket as the No. 2 seed, the Clarke University men's bowling team was knocked out before the finals as they earned a final fourth place standing at the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championships this weekend.

The Pride's 4,566 pins was the second best result coming out of Saturday's Baker games as they only trailed William Penn's 4,926 and just edged out Grand View's 4,547 by 19 total pins.

Before starting bracket play on Sunday, CU's Brendan Holl was a selection to the All-Heart First Team as the senior has been a top individual in the college bowling rankings for a majority of the season.

In the bracket, Clarke won their first round matchup against Missouri Valley College by a score of 3-1 before Grand View took a 3-1 match in the winner's bracket semifinal. The Pride hung around in the loser's bracket knocking out Baker with a 3-2 win before falling to Peru State to end their championship hopes.

Grand View was the eventual champion of the Heart as they earned a win in the second championship match by a 4-2 final score over William Penn.

Clarke men's bowling will now wait to see if the team or any individuals get selected for more postseason competition heading into the month of March.
