Pride bowling fairs well in head-to-head matchups of Clash at Spartans events

ST. CHARLES, Mo. - In a different format than what they'd competed in so far this season, the Clarke University bowling teams both had strong performances on different days of the Clash at Spartans even this part weekend.

The entirety of the tournament was played in head-to-head matchups of baker games as Saturday belonged to the women and Sunday belonged to the men as they finished fourth and second overall respectively.

In their 18 matchups, facing every team in the field twice, of head-to-head baker games the men went 7-10 to be seeded seventh heading into Sunday's bracket and the women went 11-6 to be seeded fourth heading into Sunday.

In Sunday's elimination brackets, the men had to win three matchups to make the championship match as they did just that in a 2-1 win over Central Methodist, a 2-0 win over Baker, and a 2-1 win over Missouri Baptist to end up going against Midland in the championship where they fell to 4-0 to finish in second place overall.

The women lost their first matchup of the elimination bracket at Grand View earned a 2-0 win to lock in the Pride's finish in fourth place for the tournament.

With no individual scoring in the tournament, coaches voted on All-Tournament teams as CU's Will Clark and Amber Bertschinger earned spots on their respective All-Tournament teams.

The Clarke bowling teams will have the Thanksgiving weekend off before returning to competition for their final event of 2021 on Dec. 4-5 at the Warhawk Open in Addison Ill.
