Pride unable to limit Eagles offense in defeat on the road

FAYETTE, Mo. - In their first road game in 10 days, the Clarke University men's basketball team suffered a 110-76 loss to Central Methodist University on Saturday afternoon.

The Ealges used a potent offense to their season-high 110 points on their 2024-25 best shooting percentage of 61.1 percent (44-72) from the field to produce a 51-32 first half into a 59-44 second half to run away with the victory.

Towards the middle of the first half, CMU took a 17-10 lead and extended it thanks to a 16-3 run to 33-13 over about a four-minute stretch of game time from 12:11 left to 8:10 remaining in the half to pull away and never look back.

Six members of the Eagles scored in double figures led by Bol Tong's 26 points on 10-of-16 (62.5%) shooting from the field and 6-of-10 (60%) shooting from three point range while both Destin Jenkins and Marcus Anthony added 16 while three players scored double figures off the bench in Thomas Sowoolu scoring 11, and both Kevin James and Wille Hemme adding 10.

Both DeMarco Clayton and Devon Junghans scored 14 points for the Pride while Jonovan Howard rounded out the double digit scorers with 12 off the bench as Clarke would finish 30-for-75 (40%) from the field but struggled from deep going 9-of-35 (25.7%) from three with Junghans hitting four of those nine triples.

CU men's basketball will be off from game action during the week next week while they prepare for another road trip to the Heart South when they visit MidAmerica Nazarene University on Saturday, Feb. 1 for a 2:00 p.m. CT scheduled tip in Olathe, Kan.
