Slow start too much to overcome in Pride's road loss to Park
PARKVILLE, Mo. - Getting back to action for the first time in the new year, the Clarke University men's basketball team was unable to carry their win 16 days ago as they fell 91-58 at Park University on Thursday afternoon.
Playing an early back-and-forth opening few mintues, the Pirates would go on a 27-1 run over about six minutes of game time to go from down 5-4 to up 31-6 before the opening half was halfway over.
Unable to cut into that early deficit, the Pride would head into the halftime break down 54-25 and would produce a more productive second half on both sides of the ball but that rough six-minute stretch would keep the game at a comfortable margin for Park to cruise to victory.
Park would hold signficant advantages in offensive efficiency (45.3%-32.8%), rebounding (50-36), turnovers (19-6), points off turnovers (17-8), second chance points (21-10), points in the paint (48-16), and bench points (35-13) for their seventh win of the year.
The Pride had two players in double figures led by 14 from Devon Junghans who went 4-for-11 (36.3%) from the field while Carson Lindauer added 12 points in 26 minutes in a starting role.
Four members of the Pirates scored in double figures led by 17 from Jaden Robinson while Tristan McRoberts, Abubakar Kromah, and Gagi Gvalia added 16, 15, and 12 respectively.
Clarke men's basketball will return home for their next game in the middle of a five games in 10 days stretch as they'll welcome Peru State College to the Kehl Center on Saturday, Jan. 4 for a 2:00 p.m. CT scheduled tip between the Pride and Bobcats.
