Pioneers strong three-point shooting takes down Pride
DUBUQUE, Iowa - With finals week behind them, the Clarke University men's basketball team dropped their Saturday afternoon matchup to MidAmerica Nazarene University 93-72 in the Kehl Center.
Nearly identical scores in each half would lead to the MNU 21-point victory as the Pioneers used a constant and successful three-point shot to pull away in the second half as they would go 17-for-36 (47.2%) from deep where the Pride would only make five of their 25 three-point attempts in the game.
Four members of the Pioneer rotation hit multiple three pointers in the game led by a stellar 7-for-10 (70%) sharpshooting performance from Joe Buchanan as he would lead all scorers with 25 points and lead all players with seven rebounds on the day.
Brooks Langrehr added 20 points with four triples made, Malachi Bryant scored 15 while adding six rebounds and six assists, then Gary Clay rounded out the double figures scorers with 15 of his own off the bench.
The Pride also had four players finish with 10 or more led by a season-high tying 17 points from Jake Layman as he shot 7-for-9 (77.8%) from the field, while Daquon Lewis had 11 points, then Maximiliano Bowman and Jonovan Howard both added 10 points.
Clarke men's basketball has one more game before the calendars turn to 2025 when they welcome Missouri Valley College to the Kehl Center on Tuesday, Dec. 17 for a scheduled 3:30 p.m. CT tip between the Pride and Vikings.
