
Pride fall to No. 19 Baker 89-70
DUBUQUE, Iowa - Playing their fourth home game out of their first five to start the 2024-25 season, the Clarke University men's basketball team was unable to overcome a rough first half against No. 19 Baker University for the Wildcats to earn an 89-70 win in the Kehl Center on Saturday afternoon.
Baker would jump out to a sizeable lead in the early portions of the first half, first a 13-3 run to start the first five minutes of the half then pull out even further to a 27-9 lead with about 11 minutes left before the Pride would go on a run of their own in the form of a 13-3 of their own behind a pair of three-pointers and two free throws from Carson Lindauer, three free throws from Devon Jungnhans, and a two-point jumper from Maximiliano Bowman.
The Wildcats would answer right back to run away to a 22-9 finish to the final six-plus minutes of the half to lead 52-31 at the break and use that lead to comfortably cruise through the second half despite CU outscoring Baker 39-37 in the final 20 minutes.
BU's Quentin Harvey led the way for the Wildcats with an unconscious three-point shooting performances as he led all scorers with 32 points on 8-of-10 shooting from three point range and 11-fof-17 shooting overall from the field. Only two other Baker players finished in double figures as Ahmed Mahgoub added 17 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double while Carson Richardson added 12 points off the bench going 4-for-8 from three point range.
Junghans had his best game in his early career with the Pride, leading the team with 18 points on 5-of-12 shooting from the field and 4-of-10 shooting from three with 12 of his 18 points coming in the second half. Lindauer was the only other member of the Pride in double figures as he added 13 points and five reobunds while Daquon Lewis had nine points, nine rebounds, three assists, three steals, and a blocked shot.
Clarke men's basketball will hit the road for their next two games as they'll first go to Des Moines, Iowa for a Wednesday night matchup against Grand View University for a 7:30 p.m. CT scheduled tip off on Nov. 20.
