Pride get back in the win column behind dominant performance over Peru State

DUBUQUE, Iowa - Entering Monday's make-up matchup against Peru State College seeking their first win since Nov. 11, the Clarke Unviersity men's basketball team did just that with an 84-70 win over the Bobcats on Monday evening.

Trailing 14-13 seven minutes into the game, Clarke would proceed to go on a 21-4 run over the next six minutes to lead 34-18 due in large part to the second-straight 18-point first half from Carson Lindauer as the sophomore would score 14 of those 21 points during the run on his way to a 7-fo-9 (77.8%) half while going 4-for-6 from three point range and adding four rebounds and a big block that would lead to the final score of that run in a Daquon Lewis and-one layup on the other end.

Ending the first half up 16 points, the Pride would hit the first shot of the half with an Anthony Eddy three pointer, Peru State would never cut the margin back to single digits with the largest Pride lead coming with 5:33 left in the game at a 21-point advantage after a Lindauer and-one of his own as he would finish the game with a new career-high of 32 points just two days after scoring his old career-high of 20.

Lewis would have one of his better games of the season as the Dubuque native finished with 15 points on 7-of-15 shooting while adding eight rebounds, three blocked shots, and a pair of assists in 33 minutes with Biggie Luster producing a strong all-around performance with 12 points, nine assists, and eight rebounds with two blocks of his own and Eddy rounding out the double figures scorers with a 10-point game.

CU would finish the game with their second-best shooting percentage from the field this season, going 32-of-67 (47.8%) while hitting nine three pointers and outrebounding the Bobcats 44-39.

Peru State would have four double digit scorers as well led by Ajantae Hogan's 23 points on 10-of-18 (55.6%) shooting from the field as he added four rebounds, three blocked shots, and two steals while Sayvon Traylor added 12, then Christian Tidiane and Skyler Wilson both added 10 with the rest of the eight members of the Bobcats who played combining for just 15 points.

Clarke will get back on their home court of the Kehl Center when they host Graceland University on Wednesday, Jan. 24 for a 7:30 p.m. CT scheduled tip against the Yellowjackets.
