Pride Defeat Bethel College 90-76

McPherson, Kan. – The Clarke University men's basketball team were able to bounce back on Saturday afternoon with a 90-76 victory over Bethel College behind Jacob Fierst's 31 points and 13 rebounds on 14-24 shooting.

The Pride seemed eager to get back out on the floor as they were hitting shots and making stops, which led to the Pride having a halftime lead for the fourth time in a row this season.

Keeping their foot on the gas, the Pride would finish the game shooting 55% from the floor and having four players in double figures. Jacob Fierst (31), Chandler Dean (15), Biggie Luster (12), and Daquon Lewis (10). Freshman Rob Chaney gave the Pride good minutes tonight after LaJarrion Spinks had to sit due to foul trouble. Chaney finished the game with eight points on 3-7 shooting and led the team with three steals.

The Pride finished with nearly double the number of rebounds as BU as they had a 42-24 advantage and a 7-1 advantage in blocks, led by Luster's four.

When asked about the game, coach Blaine said, "the difference was in how we competed. We had an edge to our play. There is a difference between playing hard and competing. I hope today's performance helps understand that difference moving forward." Blaine continued, "Everyone gets ownership of this one."

For Bethel, Clifford Byrd II was able to capture a triple-double that consisted of 23 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists. They had three other players in double figures as Bryant Mocaby finished with 12, Harper Jonas had 11, and Jalyn Todd had 10 points.

The Clarke University men's basketball team will head home for a Tuesday night contest at 7 pm CST against Viterbo University.
