Fierst's New Years Eve double-double results in first-career Heart Player of the Week honor

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Returning to action for the second half of their 2021-22 season, the Clarke University men's basketball team had quite an eventful New Years Eve that resulted in Jacob Fierst earning the Player of the Week honor from the Heart of America Athletic Conference.

The junior from West Allis, Wis. finished the Pride's game against Bethel University (IN) with a game-high 27 points on 11-of-19 (57.9%) shooting from the field while adding 10 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season as CU earned a hard fought 91-86 win over the Pilots.

Fierst is currently the team's second leading scorer at 16.1 points per game while shooting 46.2 percent from the field and averaging 8.6 rebounds per game and 1.3 assists per game.

Not only was this a win to start of the second half of their season but the win also earned head coach Jim Blaine his 100th career win as the head coach of the Pride's men's basketball program. Fierst also becomes the second member of CU men's basketball to earn Player of the Week this season after Keith Johnson earned the honor on Dec. 6.

The next game on the schedule for Clarke men's basketball is scheduled for this Wednesday when they host Grand View University at the Kehl Center for a 7:30 p.m. CT scheduled tip to continue their four-game homestand.
