Keith Johnson earns Heart Player of the Week with electric offensive performances

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The hometown product for Clarke University men's basketball, senior Keith Johnson earned his second-career Heart of America Athletic Conference Player of the Week honor following a 1-1 week for the Pride.

He put up a clutch, career-high 34 point performance in CU's come from behind victory on the road at Graceland last Wednesday and followed it up with a 22-point game at home in a loss to Evangel.

Against the Yellowjackets, Johnson added nine rebounds and two steals along with his 34 points on 11-of-17 (64.7%) from the field and 6-of-9 (66.7%) from three-point range while adding six free throws. At the Kehl Center against the Valor, Johnson added six rebounds, two assists, and a blocked shot while shooting 38.9 percent from the field in the game.

Johnson is currently leading the Pride in scoring average with his 18.4 points per game mark while averaging 5.3 rebounds per game in 33.9 minutes per game.

The Hempstead High School product also earned the Player of the Week honor one other time when he did so on Jan. 17, 2021 in the middle of conference play during the 2020-21 season.

Pride men's basketball will be back on the court next on this Saturday when they travel to Canton, Mo. for a road matchup against Culver-Stockton College.
