Tiffin, Ohio native Steve Drake served as Clarke’s director of college relations from 1973 to 1975. He had a passion for promoting Clarke and developed creative ideas for enrollment development, including See and Ski Weekend and the women’s basketball team.

Drake served as a news reporter for The Associated Press from 1967-69 and was communications coordinator at Ohio State University from 1969-73. From 1975 to 1978, Drake served as director of public relations and sports information director at Albion College. He served as executive vice president of the American Soybean Association from 1978 to 1992 and was the president of Drake and Company from 1992 to 2011.  Drake has served as president of SCD Group Inc. from 2011 to present.

Drake was a member of Ohio State’s first men’s varsity ice hockey team and was a three-year letter winner of the program.

Drake is a recipient of the Silver Anvil, the highest award in public relations. He received the Summit Award from the American Society of Association Executives and is a member of the Agricultural Public Relations Hall of Fame.

Drake has been active in the AMC Institute, American Society of Association Executives, St. Louis Institute of Association Leadership and served as the chair of the St. Mark Presbyterian Church building committee.

Drake received his bachelor of science degree in agricultural economics and his master of arts degree in international journalism from Ohio State.

Steve and his wife, Barbara, have two children, Michelle and Michael.
