Kansas City, Mo., native Rick Arrington came to Clarke in 1995. He served as Clarke's women's tennis coach for 13 years, compiling an overall record of 121-50. He guided his women's team to nine consecutive league titles while the Crusaders were members of the Northern Illinois - Iowa Conference. During a 12-year span, Arrington's women's team compiled a 47-5 record in league play. He was an eight-time NIIC Coach of the Year recipient.
Arrington served as Clarke's head men's tennis coach and head women's golf coach for seven years.
Arrington spent 35 years at Dubuque Senior High School, coaching baseball, basketball and girls' tennis, and teaching driver education. He will be inducted into the Senior Hall of Fame on October 10, 2015 at the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium.
Arrington received his bachelor of science degree in physical education, health and safety from Northwest Missouri State University. He currently serves as an assistant to the director of athletics at Clarke.
Rick and his wife, Teresa, have two grown children, Deanne (Mark) Arrington Sharpless and Dan (Billie) Arrington, and granddaughters Grace Sharpless, Lauren Sharpless, and Madyson Arrington.
