Prince George, British Columbia native Perry Scott made his way to Clarke in 1999 following two seasons at Taft Junior College in Taft, California. He quickly made his mark on Clarke baseball.
In his first season with the Crusaders, Scott pocketed team MVP and Northern Illinois – Iowa Conference (NIIC) All-Conference honors when he set a program single-season record with a .454 batting average. He banged out 59 hits and led the Crusaders in slugging percentage (.615), on-base percentage (.503) and RBIs (31). He batted .436 in league games and shared the team lead in steals with 11.
The following season, as a senior in 2001, Scott again garnered MVP and NIIC All-Conference honors. He led Clarke in hitting with a .415 batting average. He ranked second in RBIs (45) and third in both hits (54) and runs scored (44). The Crusaders set a then single-season record with 23 victories and made their second straight NIIC Tournament appearance. Following his senior season, the product of D.P. Todd Senior Secondary School was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association All-Region Team.
Scott’s career marks in batting average (.435) and on-base percentage (.493), and his single-season batting average of .435 still stand as program records.
Scott was an assistant baseball coach at Clarke in 2002 and 2003.
Scott has served as a case manager for Brain Injury Services since 2005. He is active in his community, serving as vice president of Camp Dawn, a camping retreat for individuals with acquired brain injury, and serving as an instructor and coach at Field House Athletics.
Scott would like the Clarke community to remember him as a hard-nosed, respectful and hard-working individual on and off the baseball field.
Scott received his bachelor of arts degree in kinesiology/physical education from Clarke in 2002.
Perry and his wife, Catherine, reside in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada with their daughter, Alexis Bradley.
