Softball
A native of Cedar Falls, Iowa and a 2007 graduate of Cedar Falls High School, Nicky was a four-year standout as a member of Clarke’s softball program.
Newhoff was named the Clarke softball newcomer of the year in 2008. She earned Midwest Collegiate Conference Honorable Mention All-Conference honors in 2010 and First-Team All-Conference honors in 2011. A three-time MCC Pitcher of the Week honoree, Newhoff was named Clarke’s co-MVP as a junior and was awarded the MVP Award a year later.
Newhoff ranks first in career strikeouts (451), shutouts (15), games started (83) and innings pitched (574.2), second in complete games (58), appearances (106), strikeouts per game (5.49) and lowest opponent batting average (.247), and third in wins (44) and batters faced (1,837), and fourth in ERA (2.67).
In the classroom at Clarke, Newhoff was a member of the Dean’s List every semester of attendance, graduating Summa Cum Laude. She earned Midwest Collegiate Conference Academic All-Conference honors from 2009 to 2011, was a two-time NAIA Scholar-Athlete, and was a 2009 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VII third-team honoree.
Newhoff received her bachelor of science degree in nursing from Clarke and is currently on academic leave pursuing her doctorate of nurse anesthesia degree at the Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences.
Newhoff worked as a bedside nurse in the Medical Intensive Care Unit at Mayo Clinic Rochester-St. Mary's campus from 2011-2016. She served as a charge nurse and member of the hospital's Rapid Response Team from 2013-2016.
Newhoff is a member of the Minnesota Association of Nurse Anesthetists and of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists.
Nicky currently resides in Rochester, Minnesota. She likes to travel, spend time with my family and friends on the river, and play intramural sports in her free time.
In her Hall of Fame inductee form, Newhoff said “Whether I was on the field, in the classroom, or developing friendships, I displayed my passion for it all through hard work, dedication, and lots of laughs. I wouldn't trade my time at Clarke or the life-long friendships I made for anything.”
