Keith Sanders

KEITH SANDERS '91
BASKETBALL

Sanders came to Clarke from Chicago Christian High school to join the Crusaders' first intercollegiate men's basketball program. The marks he left following his career still stand.

Sanders finished his career as the Crusaders' all-time leader in scoring (2,149 points), rebounding (664), assists (340) and games played (111). He still ranks as the university's all-time leader in scoring, field goals made, free throws made, three-point field goal percentage and games played.  Sanders currently ranks second in assists, third in rebounding and seventh in steals (142).

A four-time MVP and team captain, Sanders was named a National Little College All-American following his freshman season. He earned Midwest Catholic Conference All-Conference honors as a senior.

Sanders owns the school's highest single-season scoring average (23.9 ppg). He tallied as school-record 45 points against Mount St. Clare College on Feb. 18, 1989. That mark stood for 11 years.  Sanders topped the 40-point plateau with a 41-point effort against Coe College on Nov. 21, 1988.

Sanders owns the school record for three throws made in a game (20) and shares the school's single-game rebound record with 20. He continues to rank as the single-season leader in field goals made and free throws made.

Sanders received his bachelor of arts degree in business administration and is employed by Pearson Education.

Keith and his wife, Consuela, reside in Lynwood, Ill., with their children, Marquise, Kylah, Jordan and Kameryn.
