Jerry Zieser - Hall of Fame Class 2021

Vinton, Iowa native Jerry Zieser was a three-year member of Clarke’s baseball program.  The three-time varsity letterwinner earned Northern Illinois – Iowa Conference All-Conference honors in 2003 and 2004.

Zieser hit .379 and earned honorable mention all-conference honors in his first season at Clarke.  He had 55 hits, 17 multiple-hit games and tied the school mark in doubles with 15.

Zieser had a team-high .384 batting average as a senior and a team-best 16-game hitting streak.  He knocked in a school record eight RBIs against Lincoln Christian. 

Zieser ranks second in career doubles, third in career batting average (.365), fourth in total bases, slugging percentage (.578) and on-base percentage (.444), fifth in home runs and RBIs sixth in career hits and ninth in at-bats.

A 1999 graduate of Vinton-Shellsburg High School, Zieser earned first-team all-state and honorable mention all-state baseball honors.

Zieser received his bachelor of science degree in chemistry from Clarke, graduating magna cum laude.  Zieser later earned an associate of applied science degree in network and system administration from Kirkwood Community College.

Zieser currently serves as a quality systems software administrator at Integrated DNA Technologies in Coralville, Iowa.

Jerry and his wife, Elizabeth, have two children, Cameron and Ella.
