Clarke University’s baseball program has recorded five no-hitters in the program’s 29-year history.  2019 Hall of Fame inductee Brock Helms owns the distinction of having tossed three of those no-hitters.

Helms, a native of Morrison, Ill., recorded Clarke’s first no-hitter on May 2, 1994 against Mount St. Clare.  He added two no-hitters the following season, shutting down Dakota Wesleyan on March 6 and Rockford on March 25.

Helms earned first-team Midwest Classic Conference All-Conference honors and Clarke MVP honors in 1995 when he fashioned a 2.57 ERA with 63 strikeouts in 63 innings of mound duty.

In 1994, Helms fanned 68 batters in 75 innings and posted a 3.72 ERA.  He was named the recipient of the squad’s Nick Yoerger Award.  Helms earned conference player of the week honors in both 1994 and 1995.

Helms, a 2003 inductee into the Morrison High School Athletic Hall of Fame, is actively involved in community activities.  He has served as the vice president of the Morrison Youth Baseball Program, is a member of the Morrison High School Athletic Hall of Fame committee and is a Morrison Knights of Columbus board member.  Helms has been a boys youth baseball coach for nine years and counting.

Helms received his bachelor of arts degree in business administration.  He is employed by P&P Industries in Sterling, Illinois.
