Harvard, Ill., native Ashley Shields was a four-year varsity letterwinner as a member of Clarke’s women’s volleyball program. She earned Midwest Collegiate Conference First-Team All-Conference honors in 2007, 2008 and 2010, and was an honorable mention all-conference pick in 2009 when she was named Clarke’s most valuable player.

Shields joined Clarke’s 1000-kill club on October 2, 2009 when she tallied a school record 24 kills against Robert Morris.  She bettered that mark with 27 kills against Robert Morris. That record still stands.

Shields finished her career as the Clarke’s all-time leader in kills (1,727), attack attempts (4,564), service attempts (1,949) and points (2,190).  Those records still stand today.  She ranks second in block assists (339) and third in service aces (164).

An NAIA Scholar-Athlete in 2009 and 2010, Shields earned Midwest Collegiate Conference Academic All-Conference honors in 2008, 2009 and 2010.

Following her freshman season, Shields was named a second-team NAIA All-Region VII selection.

Shields was the 2011 female recipient of the Ed Colbert Career Achievement Award, presented annually to a senior in recognition of their outstanding career achievements in Clarke athletics.

Shields is a 2007 graduate of Harvard High School, where she competed in basketball, softball and volleyball.

Shields received her bachelor of science degree in nursing from Clarke and her master of science degree in nursing from Chamberlain College of Nursing.  She received high honors during her master’s program, finishing with a 4.0 grade point average.

Shields in currently employed as a family nurse practitioner at Peter Reed Family Medicine in Phoenix, Arizona.

Ashley and her fiancé, Steele Seei, reside in Phoenix, and are planning a November 2019 wedding.

In her Hall of Fame inductee form, Shields said “I want to inspire others that it is possible to be a scholar athlete as a nursing student all while making the best college experience. I was told many times as a nursing student one could not also exceed in athletics, however, with endless determination you can accomplish each passion! Participating in volleyball and nursing allowed me to meet my best friends to date who have supported me throughout each life event, so I am very thankful Clarke professors and coaches showed encouragement in all aspects of my college career.”
