Decorah, Iowa native and 2011 Clarke graduate Alex Wilharm was a key member of the men’s volleyball squad during his four years at Clarke.

Wilharm helped lead the Crusaders to the program’s first 20-win season in 2010 and a berth in the NAIA National Invitational Tournament.  He was a two-time, first-team MAMVIC all-conference selection and was a two-time national player of the week honoree.  Wilharm was a three-time Academic All-Conference selection. '

Wilharm currently ranks second in attack attempts (3274), service attempts (1794) and sets played (451), third in service aces (97), fifth in career kills (1336), reception pct. (.960), and points (1552) and sixth in kills per set (2.96) and digs (834).

Wilharm was the recipient of the Ed Colbert Athletics Career Achievement Award.  The award is presented annually to a senior male and a senior female student-athlete in recognition of their outstanding career achievements in Clarke athletics.  Wilharm earned Capital One Academic All-District 7 honors and graduated summa cum laude.

Wilharm was a member of the Louisville volleyball coaching staff for six years before spending the 2018 and 2019 seasons as assistant volleyball coach at Auburn.  He spent two years as a volunteer assistant at Louisville, was elevated to assist coach in 2013 and served as associate head coach in 2016.  

Wilharm was a part of four NCAA appearances, two NCAA Tournament top 16 seeds, an ACC Championship, two Big East Championships and a Big East Tournament Championship with Louisville. 

In 2016, Wilharm was a recipient of the American Volleyball Coaches Association 30 under 30 Award.

Alex currently resides in Smyrna, Georgia.
