David Neis

Men's Basketball

A top statistical point guard in the history of Clarke University men’s basketball, David Neis made his mark in his four-year career at CU to join the Clarke Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2023.

The 2016 Ed Colbert Award Career Achievement Award Recipient, Neis was a two-time MCC All-Conference selection and currently eighth on the program’s all-time scoring list (1,272).

Neis holds two of the five-highest point totals in a game in Clarke men’s basketball history with 45 points against Coe College in 2014 and 40 points against University of Dubuque in 2014 as he made 13 shots from the field in both games, which is good for 5th most field goals in a game.

For his career, Neis ranks 10th all time in field goals made (419), eighth in field goal percentage (47%), fifth in free throws made (356), third in free throw percentage (80%), third in assists (358), sixth in assists per game (3.3), and sixth in steals (150).

Since graduating from Clarke in 2017 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Neis has worked as a history teacher in the Benton School District in his hometown of Benton, Wis., while also working as an operator at McNett Grain Farms and a laborer at McNett Electric.

Neis hopes the Clarke Community remembers him as a hard worker that always had a smile on his face.
