Pride women's volleyball snags road win in five sets over St. Ambrose

DAVENPORT, Iowa - In their final non-conference match of the season, the Clarke University women's volleyball team earned a five-set 3-2 victory over St. Ambrose University on Saturday afternoon.

The Pride and Bees alternated set wins starting with a tight 27-25 first set win for CU as the full set scores went 27-25, 22-25, 25-19, 17-25, and 15-9 for Clarke to pull out a tight win.

Clarke improved greatly on the attack compared to their loss last night to Evangel University as they hit for a .168 percentage in the match compared to .158 for SAU. The usual suspects of Amber Cooksley and Gianna Garza led the way in total kills for CU with 14 and 10 respectively from the left side as Maddy Melvin and Rebecca Schroeder added nine and eight.

Both Cooksley and Garza finished with double-doubles as Garza finished at 12 digs and Cooksley ended the match with 11 digs. Alana Cooksley also finished with her own double-double with 25 assists from the setter position and 11 digs of her own. Libero Kali Milder had her second-straight 20-dig match as she finished with an even 20 digs after ending last night's match with 23 digs in one less set.

Jill Kavalauskas led the Bees with a match-high 22 kills in 60 total attacks with Meredith Siebers finishing at 14 kills on 35 attacks with no errors for a .400 hitting percentage to end the match.

Clarke will now stay on the road for their final three Heart matches as they will compete next on Friday, Oct. 29 at No. 4 Park University at 7 p.m. CT in Parkville, Mo.
