Pride golf closes out 2024-25 season at Heart Championships

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - Closing out their 2024-25 season at the three-round, two-day, Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship, the Clarke University men's golf team finished up their spring and overall season improving on each of their team scores over the three rounds to a ninth place finish on Tuesday at Nicklaus Golf Club At Lionsgate.

The Pride shot a first round 350 then got seven strokes better in the second round for a 343 to close out Monday's play then saved their best for last at 339 in the third and final round on Tuesday to finish with a final team total of 1,028 for that ninth place finish.

On the individual side, Cody Leon finished with the top individual placement in a tie for 36th place after a three-round total of 254 with the two lowest rounds of any member of the CU lineup with second and third round scores of 82.

Jacob Luett, Jesse Frye, and Francis Resurreccion finished in 40th, 41st, and 42nd place respectively each trailing the next by one stroke at 258 for Luett, 259 for Frye, and 260 for Resurreccion while Hayden Hoekstra played the two rounds on Monday with an 88 and 101 then Mitchel Coffey served as the five-man on Tuesday to shoot a third round 93.

Clarke men's golf heads into the offseason after Director of Golf Brock Hartley's first season leading the golf programs as Hartley anticipates a deep and talented recruiting class for the 2025-26 seasons.

The Pride women's program will head to Overland Park, Kan. for their leg of the Heart Championship next Monday and Tuesday in the same three-round format of the first and second rounds on Monday and the final round on Tuesday.
